Abstract
Surgical management of primary hilar cholangiocarcinoma remains challenging and controversial. Our policy in dealing with the disease includes local resection of the tumor with the bifurcation of the common hepatic duct, or combined tumor and liver resection with or without resection of the regional vascular structures. The various technical options regarding these alternatives have been described in detail in this article.
