Abstract

Several drugs have been reported to precipitate or to exacerbate psoriasis. These drugs include lithium, beta adrenergic antagonists, antimalarials and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, in addition to an expanding list of various miscellaneous agents, including tetracycline. These cases occur mostly in patients with a history of psoriasis, although occasionally the new onset of psoriasis or a psoriasiform or pustular reaction has followed treatment with certain drugs. The effects are dose-dependent and pharmacologically based. Except in severe reactions, in case of absence of an alternative, the offending drug need not to be stopped.
