Retraction notice to “Pro-inflammatory responses after peptide-based cancer immunotherapy” [Heliyon 10 (2024) e32249] (Heliyon (2024) 10(11), (S240584402408280X), (10.1016/j.heliyon.2024.e32249))

This article has been retracted at the request of the Editor. Post-publication, an investigation conducted by Elsevier's Research Integrity & Publishing Ethics team on behalf of the journal identified references that are irrelevant to the article. Moreover, the investigation found a significant increase of citations to papers published by the authors, Hanie Mahaki, Hamid Tanzadehpanah, Hamed Manoochehri, Elham Lotfian, Amir Avan, Mohsen Sheykhhasan, and Reihaneh Alsadat Mahmoudian, between the original submission and the revised version of this article. In summary, 6 papers by one or more of these authors were cited in the original version of the article. This increased to 13 papers in the revised version of the article. The authors were asked to comment upon the presence of these references in their work but were unable to satisfactorily address the reason for the references. Consequently, the editor no longer has confidence in the integrity and the findings of the article and has decided to retract it. The scientific community takes a very strong view on this matter and apologies are offered to readers of the journal that this was not detected during the submission process. The authors disagree with retraction and dispute the grounds for it.
