Abstract

Three patients with post-transfusion purpura are presented. This syndrome is characterized by the development of severe thrombocytopenia in Zwa-negative individuals after transfusion of Zwa-positive platelets and is due to allo-immunization against the Zwa antigen. The aetiology, pathogenesis, therapy and prevention of this syndrome are reviewed. © 1986.
