Abstract

Atelectasis of a complete lung caused by plastic bronchitis is a rare disease. We describe a 3-year-old boy with respiratory insufficiency for which an endoscopic rigid bronchoscopy was needed to clear the left bronchial tree. He recovered completely. Plastic bronchitis as a diagnosis and its treatment are described.
