Abstract
A 25-year old man visited the department of dermatology because of a persistent perianal itch. Patch testing revealed a positive reaction to the inside (synthetic cycling pad) of the cycling pants. Contact dermatitis in pruritus ani is rarely the primary cause. Taking a detailed history from a patient with pruritis ani is a key element in diagnosing contact dermatitis.
