abstract = "Patch testing is a safe and fairly reliable method for identifying contact allergens in patients with contact dermatitis. The technique of patch testing is described in Chap. 24. All patients are tested with the European baseline series [1], containing the most frequent contact allergens in European countries (Table 56.1). Often, standard series patch testing is not enough, and additional allergens or potential allergens need to be tested, based on the patient's history and clinical examination.
