Abstract

Hand foot mouth disease is an acute febrile vesicular exanthem and enanthem caused by enteroviruses. In Europe c oxsackie virus A16 is the most common cause. Distribution of the skin lesions, concurrent symptoms and the age of patients differ between the serotypes A12 and A6. We describe a case of a 29 year old man who was infected with the coxsackievirus A6. He had an extensive and atypical presentation of hand foot mouth disease and experienced of a lot of pain.
