Abstract

In 618 unselected urine-samples three different biochemical methods for quantitation of urinary proteins (Biuret, Folin-Lowry, Coomassie Brilliant Blue) were studied to find out sensitivity, sensibility, practicability and the normal ranges. In general all three methods are useful but one has to realize, that each one has its own range. It is therefore suggested, that each protein measurement should only be interpreted if the method used for measurement and the normal range is known.
