Conclusion: Imagining the future of living ethics

Living ethics in theory and practice was an inspiring project for us as editors. However, it was also not without doubts and perils as we explored a new terrain. At the end of this work, we are more than ever inspired by the thoughtful and wide-ranging contributions contained in this volume. Our contributors took up the challenge of thinking otherwise about ethics, of imagining ethics differently or elsewhere, by reflecting on their own practices and projects. Living ethics in theory and practice is a step toward imagining a more accessible, useful, and inclusive ethics and toward growing and nurturing a community which believes in and commits to that goal. Looking forward, living ethics will need to be further explored and enacted in wider-ranging contexts. Furthermore, despite our efforts to include a broader range of contributors, there remains a need for more diverse perspectives and experiences. The use of other formats, languages, and media may be needed to expand our conversations and to breathe life into ethics in an accessible and inclusive way.
