Abstract
Background: Calcipotriol ointment is an effective treatment for psoriasis vulgaris. Although cream formulations have a less emollient effect they are often more acceptable to patients. Objective: To compare calcipotriol 50 μg/g in two different cream formulations with vehicle in patients with psoriasis vulgaris. Method: A randomised, double-blind, parallel group, multi-centre, comparison of cream A in which calcipotriol 50μg/g is dissolved, cream B in which calcipotriol 50 μg/g is suspended as fine particles and vehicle. A 2-week wash-out period was followed by 8 weeks double-blind treatment.
