Abstract
In this article, the Measurements in the Addictions for Triage and Evaluations-ICF-core-set and Needs for Care (MATE-ICN) is described as an example to implement ICF into routine outcome assessment and treatment of substance use disorders. By using an ICF-based routine outcome assessment tool for treatment planning and evaluation, the overall aims of the ICF, which are to implement a unified and standard framework and language for the description of health and health-related states and to provide a common framework for all health professions, can be promoted in substance abuse treatment (SAT). In the Dutch SAT, the MATE-ICN is implemented to a large degree. MATE-ICN turned out so far to be a feasible, sufficient reliable and valid tool for the usage in routine assessment of SAT. © Georg Thieme Verlag KG Stuttgart - New York.
