The role of formylmethionine in blood pressure regulation

Project: Research

Project Details

Description

The formylmethionine (fMet) project investigates the effects of fMet, a metabolite identified as the best predictor for blood pressrue in population-based metabolomics analyses, on human aortic endothelial cells and vascular smooth muscle cells. Through in vitro experiments, the project explores the molecular mechanisms underlying fMet's effects on endothelial cell behavior, smooth muscle cell function, and vascular inflammation, providing insights into novel pathways for blood pressure regulation. This project was supported by an Amsterdam Cardiovascular Sciences Out of the Box grant 2021 (€25,000).
