Project Details

Description

"How Much is Enough?" is a season-long research project investigating the total biopsychosocial load experienced by young elite female football players in Switzerland. It explores how training, matches, school/work, travel, recovery, football/sport background and social context interact to influence performance, health, and injury risk.

More than 200 players from U18, U20, and AWSL teams participate through:
 - Weekly digital monitoring
 - Physical and mental testing
 - In-depth surveys
 - Season-long exposure and Health problem (physical and mental) tracking

A key focus is whether younger players (U20) already competing in the first women elite division face higher risk than those in age-appropriate leagues like U20.

The project aims to improve injury prevention, inform talent progression pathways, and promote healthier, more sustainable environments for elite youth development.

Layman's description

We’re studying how much pressure young female footballers deal with — physically, mentally, and socially — during a season, both on and off the field.
