Description

The Envision-Atwell Award is in honor of former NEI program officer and long-time low vision research supporter Constance Atwell. While on staff at the National Eye Institute, Dr. Atwell played a pivotal role in encouraging and motivating high quality low vision research. The award sponsor, Envision of Wichita Kansas, has a long history of service to the low vision and blind community and continues to provide support annually to LVRG for the award and the social event.

The Envision-Atwell Award is given to an ARVO presenter who is a junior investigator, defined as an individual who is actively engaged in low vision, visual impairment and / or visual rehabilitation research and who is currently a student, post-doctoral researcher, or junior faculty member with less than five years since his/her last professional degree. The award consists of a $1,000 stipend and a trophy celebrating the spirit of the award.
