Personal profile
Research interests
In recent years, attention has been paid to good care for people with 'serious mental illness' (SMI). For example, care should be given at home instead of in the clinic, there is more attention to recovery and the participation of patients and family and last but not least coercion should be prevented. In the last decade a lot of care models are developed like High and Intensive Care, Forensic High and Intensive Care, Active Recovery Triad to reach this aims in psychiatry.
On the one hand this research focus on evaluating the current care within (forensic) psychiatry (what is the situation now and what are the effects in terms of recovery and involuntary care). On the other hand, the focus is on new developments and evaluation of new interventions, working methods and methodologies.
The research is characterized by a great involvement in practice and a close cooperation with professionals, patients and important others. Most of the time a qualitative or mixed methods design is used.
