Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a multi-organ autoimmune disease, that predominantly affects women (90%) during their reproductive years. It is therefore no wonder that women with SLE often have a pregnancy wish. Unfortunately, many SLE patients will experience complications during their pregnancy, such as pre-eclampsia and preterm birth. Our research focuses on the cellular processes that drive this increased risk of complications, with a focus on maternal-fetal tolerance.
