Research interests

As an academic general practitioner, I combine patient care with clinical research. My academic focus lies on early detection and management of cardiovascular disease in primary care. My clinical practice is in Amsterdam South-East, a diverse, multicultural community. In the practice, I hold expertise in cardiovascular medicine, basic surgery and echography (CHBB registered).  

Current research projects that I have initiated and supervise:
- Triage and evaluation of acute chest pain in urgent primary care: TRACE (ZonMw) and HEART-GP (Dutch Heart Foundation)
-  Improved detection of heart failure in primary care: TARGET-HF (ZonMw/AMC)
- Screening for atrial fibrillation in at-risk patients in primary care: PATCH-AF (ZonMw)
