Research interests

My research mainly focuses on the epidemiology, diagnosis, prediction, and treatment of venous thromboembolism, in particular in patients with cancer. We have an interest in developing risk assessment tools to cancer patients at high risk of venous thromboembolism, by using both clinical data and genetic information from tumor biopsies.

I am also interested in cardiovascular complications in cancer patients, in particular as a result of immune checkpoint inhibition. We study the effects of immune checkpoint inhibition on atherosclerosis and hypercoagulability in clinical studies.

Finally, I am involved in clinical studies evaluating the efficacy and safety of factor XI inhibitors, a novel class of anticoagulants that may be associated with a lower risk of bleeding than tradiational anticoagulation.
