Perioperative nutrition
Focus of research:
I am an anaesthesiologist with a passion for (perioperative) nutrition. By combining pragmatism and research I am trying to get the basics right for patients about to pre- and postoperative nutrition. This means, among others, trying to solve the existing imbalance between fasting and eating/drinking perioperative in a multidisciplinary way. My goal is that all patients only fast perioperative the time that is necessary for patient safety reasons. And remain their good nutritional status or optimise their nutritional status pre- and postoperatively. And lastly, I aim that surgical patients have an adequate perioperative nutritional intake.
