Research interests
Esophageal and gastric surgery is major GI surgery with high morbidity and a high postoperative recurrence rate of disease.
The research line focuses on direct postoperative care and improvenment through 1. new minimally invasive techniques, 2. better pre and postoperative care (rehabilitation), 3. evaluation of Quality of Life. Furthermore research gives insight in neo adjuvant techniques and evaluation of tumor response.
Other focus is on improving outcome of esophageal and gastric cancer care on a national level through research with the Dutch Upper GI Cancer Audit (DUCA).
