Personal profile
Research interests
I am dr. Mariska de Wit, a postdoc researcher from the department of Public and Occupational Health, Coronel Institute of Occupational Health at the Amsterdam UMC. My background is Work and Organizational Psychology and I am especially interested in how to support (unhealthy) workers to stay at work or return to work after sick leave. My current research focuses on improving work participation of workers with a chronic disease. In October 2021 I finished my PhD project on the effects of cognitions and perceptions of workers on their work participation. During this research project I developed and evaluated a training program for occupational health professionals on cognitions and perceptions of workers. During my current research project I study the effects of the Progressive Goal Attainment Program on cognitions and perceptions and on the work participation of workers with a chronic disease in the Netherlands. Besides my research, I am involved in the education of medical students, occupational physicians (in training) and insurance physicians (in training).
