Research interests
My main research focus is on compulsive disorders: addiction, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). My primary motivation is understanding why it is so challenging to stop behaviors that we know are not good for us. While my earlier research primarily delved into the biological and mechanistic aspects of these conditions, I have recently expanded to qualitative and clinically applied projects. With this shift in focus I aim to directly influence treatment approaches, especially in the realm of psychotherapy.
Moreover, my current research involves a project that explores the significance of autonomy within the wider field of psychiatry. I am particularly interested in investigating how autonomy can be enhanced in patients, with the ultimate goal of improving their overall well-being. By narrowing the gap between theoretical understanding and practical application, I strive to contribute to the development of more effective and patient-centered therapeutic interventions.
