Irene Klaassen, MD, PhD is a pediatric hematologist at the Emma Children’s Hospital, Amsterdam University Medical Centers. She completed her pediatric residency at the Vrije University Medical Center in Amsterdam. Subsequently, in 2013 she received a fellowship training in pediatric hematology at the Emma Children’s Hospital, Amsterdam University Medical Centers in Amsterdam. She received her PhD doctorate on venous thromboembolic disease in pediatric malignancies in 2019. Her present research focuses on recurrent thrombosis and post thrombotic complications in pediatric thrombosis.
