Personal profile
Specialisation
Cardiovascular imaging, cardiac MRI, renal MRI, contrast media safety.
Research interests
As a cardiothoracic radiologist, I am experienced in cardiac and pulmonary imaging using CT and MRI including state-of-the art technologies such as tissue characterization (T1, ECV, T2(*) mapping), 4D flow and cardiac perfusion-CT. At daily basis, I supervise radiologists in training, and fellows in cardiothoracic radiology (NVvR) and cardiovascular radiology (ESOR-ESCR). I am actively involved in the organization of care regarding patient safety related to contrast media.
My research mainly focuses on the development of new technologies for cardiac and renal imaging, and multi-organ interaction (cardio-renal syndrome). Nationally, I collaborate with the LUMC (dept. of radiology, and cardiology) and Alrijne Hospital (e.g. Rubidium-82 PET/CT facility). Internationally, I collaborate with MRI researchers via the ISMRM and renalmri.org. In 2023 I was awarded a personal research talent grant (veni) by ZonMw NWO to perform research on multimodality imaging in HFpEF and CKD.
