The main goal of the 'evidence-based neurosurgery' research line is to answer burning clinical questions in the field of neurosurgery using, if possible, multicenter randomized clinical trials. One of the main themes within evidence-based neurosurgery is the neurovascular disorders research line. Large RCT's based on new medical or surgical interventions to improve outcome in patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage, intracerebral hemorrhage or chronic subdural hematoma are being performed in collaboration with national and international partners. Translational research is performed in order to improve knowledge about predictors for ischemic complications in patients with subarachnoid hemorrhage. There is an extensive collaboration with the departments of Radiology and Biomedical Engineering in order to detect important imaging information for prediction of complications or outcome.
