About:
From origin trained as neuroscientist, he previously held a faculty chair in Experimental Neuroscience from 1999-2016 at the VU in Amsterdam but as of the beginning of 2017 he is appointed as full professor in Translational Medicine in Amsterdam UMC. From 2008 - 2015 he was director of the Neuroscience Campus Amsterdam and from 2016-2022 he acted as the scientific director of Amsterdam Neuroscience, an alliance research institute of Amsterdam UMC in collaboration with the Science Faculties of the VU Amsterdam and UvA. In 2012 he also commenced the Industry Alliance Office, as a subsidiary of Amsterdam UMC for Amsterdam Neuroscience and IXA. Currently he is active mainly in the field of knowledge transfer, industry alliance and strategy in the area of public private partnerships, as vice dean valorisation | chief impact officer across all disease indications, research areas and divisions.
