Ever since my training in dermatology in the second half of the 1970s, I have been most interested in contact allergy and allergic contact dermatitis, and the majority of my research and publications relate to this topic
Currently my focus of research is on contact allergy to the natural material propolis (bee glue) and allergic contact dermatitis from diabetes devices such as glucose sensors and insulin pumps and infusion sets. Soon the department of Dermato-allergology will have an extensive screening series of allergens which may be present in such devices. With this series, we will be able to diagnose allergic eczematous reactions in patients with diabetes type 1 more accurately and give more targeted advice on alternative devices to use.
