As a clinically trained healthcare psychologist and epidemiologist, I currently work as a part-time senior researcher in the field of Perinatal Psychology at the Department of Midwifery Science, AVAG-Amsterdam Public Health/Amsterdam Reproduction & Development. I am involved in drafting and co-coordinating a large cohort study with embedded RCT assesssing the effectiveness of an antenatal resilience training for moderately depressed pregnant women (Voluit Zwanger). I have specific interest in neurobiogical correlates (cortisol, oxytocin and inflammation markers) of (perinatal) mental health problems (anxiety and despression), postpartum trauma and PTSD and life-style factors such as obesity. Currently, as part of the project Voluit Zwanger, I coordinate the inclusion of the project: hair cortisol concentration as a valid indicator of prenatal depression. Besides my work as a researcher, I am a senior lecturer in Science Education and Perinatal Psychology at the AVAG / InHolland University of Applied Sciences.
