Alessandro Di Matteo

My research focuses on microstructural diffusion MRI and histology informed modelling. My work integrates diffusion MRI, Monte Carlo simulator for diffusion, histology and 3D microstructure reconstruction.
Using a diffusion simulator and sinthetics geometries, I study how brain architecture of white and gray matter, influences diffusion metrics, especially in case of neurodegenerative disease (Alzheimer's pathology). My interest is to link how the microstructure changes affect the diffusion MRI signal, in order to improve the interpretation of tissue neurodegeneration or tumors.
